lee Xue Jing
Teacher
Xue Jing was born in Singapore and is a freelance dance artist. She had trained in ballet, contemporary and Chinese dance. In Spring/Summer 2019, she toured a triple bill with Transitions Dance Company. She holds a Master of Arts in Dance Performance with Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (London, UK), and a Diploma in Dance with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore). She was selected for an exchange semester at SUNY Purchase College Conservatory of Dance (New York, US) in Fall 2017, and received the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Arts and Cultural Award in 2016. She has been relief teaching since 2015.
While training, she realised her voice through dance – conveying things of importance and making an impact as a dancer through performing, choreographing, and her very being. Xue Jing was invited to choreograph “untitled at the moment” for Breath (2020), and “Orbs” for Evolution (2018), a farewell dance concert for her alma mater, then-Serangoon Junior College. Her performance repertoire ranges from stage productions to mass displays, which include practised choreographies and improvised sections. Both internationally and locally, she has performed in works by Dan Kwoh (SG), Ezekiel Oliveira (PT), Filomar Tariao (PH), Gillian Tan (SG), Hetain Patel (UK), Karole Armitage (US), Low Ee Chiang (SG), Marina Collard (UK), Richard Chappell (UK), Sandra Leong (SG), Sherry Tay (SG), Wong Liang Pei (SG) and Zou Yi (CN) amongst many choreographers. Xue Jing was also involved in interdisciplinary projects and competitions.
To be here, Xue Jing recognises it as a privilege and hopes to continue dance for a long time. She sends her sincere gratitude to her family and friends who were crucially supportive in her dance endeavours; and her teachers from both her formal school years and dance training who have played a big part in her growth.
